This choir was
founded in 2001 to give a performance of Bach’s St John Passion. It
has since performed great choral works by Arvo Part, Henryk Gorecki,
Allegri, Mendelssohn, Jonathan Harvey and many other composers. Its
most recent programmes have included a further performance of the St
John Passion and Elgar’s From the Bavarion Highlands. The choir
consists of approximately 36 highly experienced choral singers. Its
members include some from the St Mary-Le-Tower Church Choirs and
others from across the whole county of Suffolk. It performs with
professional orchestra and soloists as appropriate to the
repertoire.
The Choir does
not have a regular rehearsal time, but rehearses intensively for
a short period before each concert. Enquiries concerning
membership should be addressed to Michael Nicholas (see contact
info).
